Galaxy Drive In

Located in Kingsley, this is Perth’s last surviving Drive In movie theatre. Over the years the popularity of Drive Ins have decreased and been taken over by the ever growing popularity of summer time open air cinemas.

This is a piece of history that I thoroughly enjoy revisiting ! It reminds me of the scene in Grease (the movie) where the guys smuggle each other in the boot of their cars to get in for free. Well no need here at Galaxy for the entry fee is a fixed $20 per car on Tuesday nights!

The vibe is so relaxed and you can bring your own snacks along or purchase well priced snacks at the cafe , choc bombs and hamburgers to name a few. It’s a great place to bring the kids, some pillows and get comfy for a double feature. It’s good to arrive before 7 to get a good parking spot and you can reverse park your car and set up in the back. The sound is tuned into your car radio station and provides good quality sound, and being in your own car gives you more comfort and freedom to talk (if that’s how you roll) and not be disturbed by others.

All in all it’s a fun night out plus you get to watch 2 movies !
They have a rotating movie roster which changes approximately every 2-3 weeks. This week I saw The Expendables 3 followed by The Edge of tomorrow. Starting in September they will be showing Into the Storm followed by Godzilla. Friday, Saturday, Sunday nights it’s $10 per adult and $5 per child.
